Just got a question how do you re set a ecu on a ef fairmont?

disconnect it and leave it for about 10mins, then bolt it back in

ford told me to leave the batterie disconnected for 45.

Yeh any more than 30 mins should do it ... 10mins might be too short ..ive tried that before, might have been 15 mins and didnt feel like it had properly cleared everything.

Then apparently you let it idle in Drive for 8 mins (handbrake on ofcourse)

2 min on park, then 2 min on with a/c on full.
then d for 2 min, and then on d with a/c on full for 2 min.
again i was told this by ford.

although i rekon its a load of s**t, i tried not doing it and i didnt notice any diffrence from when ive done it

with air con on it just puts strain on engine as with D and air con which makes it idle a bit lower and hunt and stuff but if u do that imo it allows for a quicker idle quality especially after getting a cam done.

Dont really matter, getting a new ecu on friday anyway, so will find out how to reset it ompletely properly from my wrecker.
