How often should you drain and replace the rear axle lubricant?

And, in the worst case scenario, what could happen if you don't replace it?

Haynes manual says every 80,000km or 36 months

It also states a 1.7 litre capacity in the rear differential

How much does it cost for you mrtg?

I do mine whenever I change something or break something. So far it's been done 3 times this year.

LSD oil is no more expensive than gearbox oil or even engine oil, and IMO it should be done every 50k kms.
Castrol LSX90 in the LSD with a Nulon additive is well n truly under $50, and works a treat.
