As I was going to fix my rear main seal this week, ive come across a bit of a problem, Ive got to drive to qld from sydney on monday, Do ya's think that it will be alright? It doesnt leak too bad, What can happen?
It just gets a bit smelly when its hot as the oil leaks on the cat..

cheers,

How much oil is it leaking?

I'd say you will be alright driving it, if its not leaking too much & you keep an eye on the oil level & pressure if you've got a gauge installed

Yeah you should be alrite mate, just keep on checking the oil level and if you loose oil pressure just let the car chill for a while.

I would suggest you fix it thou, i fixed mine it cost me just under $500 to fix its a fair bit for a s**t little $30 part to be replaced but i also installed a speedy sleeve to go over the crankshaft as this will pretty much stop it from leaking for a few years at least.

Even with it fixed thou my oil pressure still doesnt stay over the 1/2 way mark on the oil pressure gauge. It tends to hover around half way a fair bit.

Yeah when you really start to hear the engine tick thats wehn you gotta check it to c if theres plenty of oil in her. Soft ticking isnt too bad, most fords do tick a little bit.
