What size and thread are the 3 threaded holes in the balancer on an EL? I need to know what size bolts I need, hoping to use a universal puller, need the bolts to bolt it on.

M10, 1.5mm pitch, 75mm long.
Thats what Craig (XRFAIRMONT67) texted to me, so its up here for reference now. Thanks heaps fellas!  Wish me luck changing the balancer and seal.

I'm going to be giving this a crack (hopefully not literally) in the morning. I'm just looking at the manual now, does the main seal come out easily enough with the timing cover still in place?

These are my tools for doing that job....the puller, balancer installer, and the seal installer. The seal installer sure makes it easy.

So looking at that tool, I'm guessing the seal goes in from the front with the lip facing out?
I'm a bit nervous.

my $16 harmonic puller, centre bolt thread cut down to 105mm long from the head. gives more clearance on the radiator. only needed to buy 1 bolt, M10 X75mm, 1.5 pitch as above
u might be able to use a big socket dan, i've even used the caps that fit on the top of galv fence posts, $2 from bunnings. find one that is a touch smaller than the new seal's od.

They have 2 lips.....remember " coil to the oil "....that means the little coil spring looking thingy goes on the inside......also before fitting, lube with a little bit of grease ( some seals come with grease in them so this may not be necessary. If your fingers are good enough, you put them in with a little spray of WD40 on the outside....then tap in till level with outside.

I have a metal dust cap from an AU front hub that is a perfect fit for the seal, so that and some inox is the plan now.
Thats the same puller as I have borrowed Craig, just with the long centre bolt still obviously. I'll pull the radiator out, no risk of damaging it then. My Stepdad reckoned the pulley is quite hard to bash on, is that true? Thanks very much for the help, hopefully planning in advance means it all goes smoothly. |

I'd imagine it would be, which is why thats not how you do it lol.
When you put the balancer back on you lock the motor up in gear and use teh bolt and washer to put it back into place. |

He reckoned I should tap it on with a hammer. I was like Should all be a piece of piss. Thanks fellas. |

Yeh hitting it with a hammer would probably f**k up the rubber in it.
Just slot it on and crank the bolt up, would also be a thousand times quicker than hitting it into place lol |
