I know it is normal practice, in a situation where a trained ear can pick the difference between an arcing lead or an inlet leak it maybe ok. I'm just saying be careful, I've seen people come to grief using this method. You should be able to see the under side of the manifold using a good swivel headed mirror and a torch.
