I dont stick additives in anything except for injector cleaner in the fuel.

Now I am not sure how you use the other engine flushes but the Amsoil one you add to your existing oil when the engine is warm and run the engine for a prescribed time, then drain the oil so you always have some protection/lubrication.

I used this flush technique with amsoil engine flush and I have had the engine run hard on a dyno an out on the road testing a cam and I have had no problems 3 months down the track.

Take it as you see it but I will let you know one thing Amsoil beats everything in independant tests and has been manufacturing synthetic oil since 1970's and has a 40,000 Km oil change cycle.

A slightly higher viscosity on higher mileage engines.. 25 / 60 blend...

FOr the average drive around car it should be fine, was sell 6 litres of 20W-50 at work for $14.99 all the time, and it's Mobil or Valvoline stuff, can't remember... People love it.

My engines got 640,000km's on it, and it runs perfectly on Penzoil 15W-40 Gas oil. Previous owner told me he never let it go over 10,000km's without a service, and I guess this kinda proves that it wasn't treated bad since it's still happy to run on 15W-40 after 11 years and lotsa driving.

i used to use mobil 1 but for the last 5 or so years have been using shell helix ultra. same price but i find the shell gives better oil pressure. also if you look up the data on oils you will find the shell has a higher viscosity index (highest i have seen) . my car has over 275k now and still no dramas and no sign of any. helix ultra is 5/40. i change oil every 5k, give or take which is only twice a year, sometimes 3 times so its not that expensive.

Yes Shell helix ultra here also started using it when I got the car at 90,00 kms now done 190,000 and doesn't use a drop between changes ( 10,000 kms) pressure always stays right up cold or hot. :P :P

Ironic I am using Shell Helix Ultra now as well and the EL is on 198988km. Where as previously I was using Penrite HPR10. But with HPR 10 I wasnt using any oil. But now I am burning or going thru the Shell Helix Ultra only ever slightly of 30-60ml a week. Maybe have to go back to the Penrite next oil change.

HPR 15 is pretty much best all rounder. Changed every 5000ks with fresh filter. Can't go wrong.

Which is pretty much the same as the Penrite HPR 15 of a 15-60w. Though with the Shellhelix plus which is 15-50w which would be a middle of the range type oil, ie; not to thick and not to thin etc. Interesting
