u cant get it back cos its not in diagnsotic mode. the ecu controls the timing and if its not in diagnostic mode u cant set the base timing.

take of the cover to the fuse box. inside there will be a white plug with pins u have to brdige the 2 pins on the left hand side. ill post up a pic when i find one

heres the diagnostic plug. ignore the writing and big arrows. the pins u wanna brige are pointing to the small arrows on the left side. i used a female spade electrical connector , works great.

heres what to do

1 drive until engine is warm
2 stop engine and connect up timing light to no 1 cylinder spark plug lead
3 ensure ignition is off and bridge 2 pins.
4 start engine. engine speed should increse initally to 1300 - 1600 indicating that ecu is in self diagnostic mode.
5 wait 2 minutes or until the engine is heard to stumble, almost stall. using timing light to check that balancer mark lines up with timimg case mark. give or take 2*
6 remove conncetor or whatever is bridging the 2 pins and check timing again . the timing marks should not be aligned indicating that ecu is controlling the timing.
7 stop engine disconnect timing light

its pretty staright foward but make sure u wait until its in diagnostic mode otherwise u wont get an accurate reading of the timing
