Ford only sell the 1.9mm shims now.. no more 1.6mm or 2.4mm.. That means I can't get acceptable clearances without using washers.
So washers it is.

Unless anyone knows where to obtains some hardened washers or 1.6/2.4mm shims?

You really do need hardened washers dude.
I've seen how much normal ones squish.

The existing washers I have are the original one plus 6 washers...
the 6 washers are a total of 5.2mm. These give me acceptable clearance.

so I'd need the original shim plus 2x 1.9mm shims plus 1x1.6mm shims. That's not exact, but it's close enough.

I'll keep trying more places.. but no one has hardened washers :(

Surely you don't need that many shims?
Are you doing tight clearances with lifters fully compressed or what?
I've got a brand new set of 1.9 shims but 1 is missing in the packet... NFI where that went.

It must be one massive reground cam mate, to need that many shims they must have machined that much off the base circle.... Which i'm finding it hard to believe.

20 phone calls later, blackwoods is the only place had hardened washers.. but the smallest they had was 1/4".. which is too big to fit into the lifter assembly.

Well you're welcome to come over and have a look yourself.. look just trust me and the others that were there at the cam install day. We were all just as surprised as you were. Everyone else only needed 1-3 extra washers.

Anyways.. the point is.. does anyone know where to get the 1.6mm ford shims or 5mm hardened washers of any thickness?

I've heard of people needing up to 6 shims with the RPD cams.

6 shims would almost certainly block off the oil gallery in the rocker.

What about the original shim plus 2-3 extra ford shims?

At the moment it's the original ford shim plus 6 washers.. washers allow plenty of oil to go through cos of the hole in the middle.
