hi, just wondering, im doing the single belt conversion from the el 6 cyl and i want to know if id be ok to use a secondhand el aircon pump because a friend was saying you cant because once you open the lines up moisture and air gets in and wrecks it.

am i able to get a secondhand pump, take it somewhere to get the old aircon gas reclamed before the car gets pulled to bits, then take it to where ever i work on it to, do the single belt conversion and then when finished take it back to the person that took the old gas get the plug checked and get it regassed again. is it that simple to do the single belt conversion

You can do the reclaiming bit if you can drive the donor car there and back. Don't expect a discount when you go for a re-gas though, they'll probably charge you and keep the gas in the first place.
If you have a mobile aircon serviceman in the area they'll come and do it. Don't know the charge.
This link leads to a form which will give you the nearest aircon techs to your post code:-

Like Frank says, 2nd hand is fine as they should dry it, oil it etc during a full re-gas and service.
Cheers,
Paul
