Ride: BA Falcon Suzy Across

Power: 178 rwkw

Location: melbourne

drove it again after having my BA as apposed to last time comparing it to my EA. :( I was paranoid expecting it would feel faster than the BA even though i've beaten 1 b4. Off the mark, its a slug as well but very sluggish (gives you feeling of frustration), then at about 3000, it starts pulling harder and your thinking its about to really hammer and then it changes gear and your left with a very empty feeling. I think obviously its biggest drawback was the s**t auto-transmission (even with pwr mode) it has and i'm sure the manual version would be alot more show. Steering and gear shift is pretty stiff, and I find the mirror pretty small however I do find that it does handle pretty well for a big car.

If any1 else want's to submit a road test of a particular car, post it here, i'm interested to see how other cars shape up in the eyes of ford modders.

At work we have a SV6, i think it's a POS, i don't know how they can say it has 190kw, I don't know where it's all hiding i'm yet to find it. It does seem pretty 'zippy' down low not as much as a verada though. Steering wheel has yukky plastic crap on it and the rear mirror sucks a*** but i'm comparing that to my huge one on mine, and I honestly believe my EB pulls harder! SV6 is a heap of crap!

Ben

And yeah it has that horrid commodore V6 sound...yuck!

We have two VZ V6's as company cars and they are both very different animals. One is a hardcore POS that would be lucky to blow away the missus Focus, the other is quite good (acceleration wise).

Handling wise, they are one of the most dangerous cars on the road.

I have driven an SV6 and it was miles quicker than my mates EL Fairmont. I actually liked driving it and liked it better than the BA i drove.

Yeah I'm yet to drive a BA, maybe it's just this SV6 we got drove it when it had about 80kms now its got like 30000kms still seems the same. A lot tighter than my old heap but would go an XR6 NA over it anyday. I wish they'd get some V8's that would be much more fun for the dash down the street. I think it might be that my car just seems to pull after 3k and the SV6 is the same all round. Still sounds horrid though.

dads got a VY. I drove that for more than 40 hrs.

Steering as stiff as even at 100'000kms. Tends to make a whole heap of noise and go no where.

Upside is when they are moving u can handle very well for its size. Dad took a 45 bend at about 90+ km/h with ease.

I dunno. COmes down to personal preference. I like the EF over the VY cause steering and suspension is better IMO. Dad loves the bombadore cause hes dads a wog. :)

Drove my dad's company VY a while back. Hated it, had to take a shower afterwards felt so dirty.

Your signature is awesome. what were we talking about? who cares?

Ill tell you about some of my drives...

VX V6 Supercharged: absolutely bolts away off the line, really runs away from the traffic, dies off in the upper rev range but i reckon no ford would go near it to 60km/h. It wouldnt have the nuts to peg it back either.

VS V8, strange one, they feel faster than the EL ghia I have, dont know if it actually is though. Bit average off the line but builds a decent head of steam, nice.

VY V6: Pretty lazy car, I reckon average all over the park, the Ford i6 has its measure.

Vy R8 Ls2: dont even dream about beating one of these, they are seriously quick, great top end. got that nice shove up top, i reckon it would give you a decent start and reel you back in hand over fist.

Any more you wanna hear??

What did any of those cars feel like through corners?
Can't say I've driven the later model commodore stuff, would be interested to hear.

Weve got one of the crewman utes, a vt or thereabouts I think maybe newer. It is lots of fun (cos it is a company car  ) but it really is a box of s**t. Looks horrible, is gutless and doesn't drive real good either. The back seat is real uncomfortable on any trip over about 15 minutes cos it makes you sit bolt upright. Makes a great rally car but!
