I've got an EF 6cyl and lately i cant start it properly. I actually have to turn the key and it will turn over a number of times and then might actually start, othertimes i have to do this a few times. Every now and then it will start normal.. any suggestions why? has new plugs/leads etc.

cheers

head gasket...my el was doing it as well...used to get in and start it but once every now and again it would wind for ages and not kick...turn the key off and bang she would go first kick.....turned out the head gasket had a slight leak and coolant was seeping into the cylinder...

my head gasket job cost just shy of 700,the head was till pretty good, but whenever a head comes of it should be machined as they will warp when the tension is of them..
