Hey Guys,
Not too long ago i had to change my pedal box as i have a HD Clutch and the welds were f**k!!!
any way i had to drop the steering column down to get in there and now it steers like s**t! I hav'nt got a clue what i can do to fix this. it just feels like im trying to steer a rusty old tractor.
Any ideas?

You didn't take the column out, so you have buggered the bottom support bearing by letting it get twisted. You'll need another column.

thats why you HAVE to turn the column preferably 90 degrees to the RIGHT if the wheels are straight, other wise it will f**k your column easily

i got a quote from ford, TOO MUCH! naa, if you can, go to the wreckers and look around carefully for a steering column in top nick and make sure that the steering wheel is still bolted up. if it isnt bolted up, keep looking

i got told by my mechanic (23 years) before i pulled the dash out of my wagon to put the wheels straight, then turn the wheel 90 degrees to the right, it will not wreck it anywhere near as much

I remember something like $250 odd.....completely bare they are, so you'll have to swap everything over from yours.
Always remember to remove the whole column if you are taking the dash assembly out, pedal cluster etc......Doesn't take too long.....and the intermediate shaft can only go on 1 way onto the steering column shaft.......same as for the rack end too...1 way only.

best just to try to get one out of the same model as yours because if the one you buy from them is a different model and something doesnt work, you need to take it back, pull another one as where if you get one from your model which is an XH2, it should bolt up and work normally

hahaha, best way to learn i supose, f**k it up once and it wont happen again. ill have a look at Ford and the wreckers, like i said i can barely find parts at wreckers for my ute, never seen an XH, is it fairly basic when pulling the column out cjh?

i know that. im not contemplating your skills at all, i actually like people who have constructive criticism.

if you get it from ford, you may pay to give them a call first as i wanted a EL Fairmont rear badge, they had to get that from sydney so may be best if you do call them first
