Hi,

I just installed a AUIII Tickford Snorkel today on my 97 EL from the original one. The original one had a cut out hole in the bottom, which i realised was done in the LPG Installation. This would lead to just hot air going into the snorkel. I changed the snorkel and now even time i left go of the accelerator, the EL starts to choke and goes in very low RPM (200) and nearly stall. What should i do? Should i cut a whole in the bottom of this snorkel, but then the snorkel would just be useless.....

Does the car run on straight gas? or is it duel fuel? If it's duel fuel, does the problem occur when running on gas, petrol or both?
How long ago was the LPG converter installed? Was it brand new?

Also, what purpose did the hole in the bottom of your old snorkle serve? Did something (a hose etc) run into or out of it?

there should be a hose of some sort that goes to that hole.

Nothing goes out of that hole as its just a plain hole sawed off, car is Duel fuel and runs mostly LPG and the converter is new.

Thats right, the hole needs to be there for LPG, as the gas converter needs to sense vacuum from the mixer, and without the hole cut into the snorkle, when you back off, the force of the air going into the snorkle creates pressure, therefore the gas converter will not supply gas, casuing the car to nearly stall.

On the bottom of the convertor there is a balance hose that will connect to the air box or snorkle. The purpose is to sense the air pressure in the induction system at all times

NOT ALL L.P.G. Converters have the balance line to the airbox or snorkel. My current one and my previous one don't! I also had this problem, although I was originally running no snorkel and I added a snorkel on, the solution was I just waited until next time the car went to the L.p>G. mechanic for the service/tune, and then swapped/put on the snorkel and they retuned it and it worked perfectly...

I have a connection for a balance line which i will try to connect to the air box and see if it can work with the newer snorkel or if not go to the LPG mechanic.

Sounds like it might be worth putting the old snorkle back on!

Yeah, i'll make the hole. But, there is a connection for the pressure sensor line off the converter which was never installed by the LPG mechanics.

Should i put it in above the air filter in the air filter box or under it?

AU? Should go under it. On the very slight chance something actually comes out of the balance line, it would be a good idea to be upstream from the filter.
