Testing BF Alternator!Does anyone know how to do this?It is similar to a Ford Escape in that the field current is monitored and controlled by the ecu and that is about as much as I know about it.So do any techies know how to do an onboard diagnosis or possibly how to reset the ecu so that it goes back to factory settings. Thanks in anticipation,Kevman.

it is regulated by the pcm yes. In terms of "resetting it" there is no need. The pcm doesnt have a learning ability for controlling the charge rate. If its not charging there is an issue either with an earth, the pcm itself, or the alternator. Only way to tell is to look at the desired voltage and compare it to the actual voltage. You will need a scan tool to do this
