face it down first! i bet you $1000 the mating surface is warped! 10 secs lightly with a file will tell you.

ok will do that to.
so run over both surfaces with a file for a couple minutes, should rule that out the possibility of warping |

yeah, dont go nuts but you'll see the warp if the file is flat to the face. you want to quickly go around it and see where the aluminum is fresh and where its untouched. then you just need to eyeball it a little.

mine leaked with the gasket ,
remove gasket new thermostat and no leak

Lightly sand surface and make sure 100% clean. I put a timy amount of grease around rubber ring around thermostat to help it swell a little and make sure you dont over tighten bolts. Genuine is usually the best for seal. Good Luck

You do not need a paper gasket, make sure that both surfaces are clean and flat, use a new rubber O ring,
apply a small smear of rubber grease on the O ring thats all you need, if it still leaks you have problem with the two flat surfaces, thats all we use in our workshop and dont have any problems. |

Not trying to sound funny but you are fitting the rubber O ring around the thermostat first before fitting it into the housing, ive seen the O ring sitting on top of the thermostat in several cases.
