hey rough ideas if i may but i have a slowish tick comming from the bottom left(passenger) side of the motor i have used a screwdriver to locate the sound and its not lifters, pulleys, wat pump it has new harmonic ballencer on it and tim chain was done less than 6 months ago.

oil pressure looks bit low starts off fine and drops a bit after say 30kms of driving and holds steady(well looks to be) what are peoples thoughts on what could be wrong?

cheers for the help.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with your engine.
It is injectors injecting petrol in combustion chamber. Usually one of them is "ticking" a bit louder then the others.
When I first bought my ED, I asked myself exactly the same question.
All E series engines do this, some more then the others, don't know about AU and BA series.
But trust me, if the ticking is your only concern, there's nothing to warry about.

although is it ticking or the dreaded word "KNOCKING" because they can be mistaken, had many ppl come into work especially the ex taxi ef's and el's and all are wondering what the ticking sound is when its a actually a big end bearing knocking like a b**ch.

Ticking. Normally lash adjusters or injectors. Ive owned many injected fords and they all tick, sometimes sounds like a little rattle, sort of like shaking a ball bearing in a little tube. Some noisier than others.

Lash adjusters often are worse when the engine starts from cold in the morning when they have drained & lost oil overnight, and the oil is cold and thick and takes a few seconds to come up to pressure and force the oil up through the rocker shaft and rocker into the adjuster., especially in a tired engine. Every time I change the oil on my NC Fairlane it seems to make the problem worse, for about 5000k probably because the oil is more viscous.

You can buy a new kit for the adjusters to give them a new lease of life. They were being distributed by Leander & Assoc. in Perth - their web site is down - though I bought my last set through the local Auto One. Same set though. A good Ford shop should know what they are.

It comprises the seal and seat and new clip from memory, and is heaps cheaper than buying a new set of adjusters from Ford or Repco.

And they include installation instructions.

passenger front is where the purge valve is if i am not mistaken right? checked that? or the ac compresser they also can tick and grind and do mad s**t but normally change with revs EDIT: purge valve is not a constant ticking sound , it will tick a bit then be quiet for a second then tick some more for a bit ect. not like a lifter that will go non stop if you understand
