Hey guys
here a interesting one 4 yous im currently carrying out few test trying to find the cause but havn't found i yet.

The problem is when the car under load here a few examples of when it dose it

When you go to do i quick acceleration off light and you feel the weight of the car it starts to hear a cracking sound from exhaust and poors carbon colour dust EVERYWHERE

or when your on high way and you com up to steep hill and you drop 90km or something and you push the accelerator the exhaust creates a cracking sound and the carbon dust makes traffic dissapear behind me.

it only dose it when it on lower rpm with quite a a mount of throttle.

anyone go ideas?

I seem to think the car is leaning out and making the cracking sound.

i was going to hook up my hego sensor but i found out it stuffed now so i might get one of them cheap guages off ebay and mount it on center console to monitor fuel ratio.

The injector were reco about 4 or so months go.

maybe ill grab a mate and go 4 a drive and get it to crackle smoke and record it with cam and post it up so you guys get a good look.

ok

Engine

AU engine

orignally turbo(nearly finshed manifold to make it turbo again)

currently NA

did a compression test other month and got a dead even 140PSI on all 6 cylinders

Can see any sign of 2 head gaskets so id be guessing it got a turbo cam still in it.

im runnign T5 manual not a auto so when i open throttle without drop a gear it brakes down under load.

But if i drop back to third on high way and go all out it don't do it just under the load at lower rpm.

What do you think??

map sensor? o2 sensor? fuel pump? fuel regulator? coolant temp sensor? tps sensor? internal engine brake down?(highly dought) Fuel map having trouble with decompressed engine?

i don't be leave it running rich cause no fuel comes out the exhaust it bone dry thats why i suspect lean and it so hot it making alost of carbon dust and spitting it out.

Thats what i think

If its lean I wouldn't expect carbon dust, I'd say its rich.

so you all reckon it running rich. i should of said it had a wolf 3d in when turbos he removed it and refitted standard ecu when he sold the car.

Cat brake down i drought it lets just say there ain't nothing in the cat he kinda knocked it out i just haven't got around to getting my new cat

well i could tell you when i get the air fuel mixture gauge but i honestly think its leaning out.

my car use to run rich and spit fuel out the rear but after while i found out that my air temp sensor on the manifold wasn't connected and reconnected it to ecu and never had fuel leave the exhaust since and ran so much better.

happens to my car too with the MS2 fitted... thought there was something wrong but it was tuned to run like that at full throttle to make sure there are no probs with pre detonation...

you wouldnt get carbon if its running lean.
if its running heaps lean your exhaust will go light grey almost white..
carbon is unburnt fuel like a black powder.

have you checked your plugs??
if it was turbo your plugs could be to cold or have a too small gap.

try the std plugs and see if that helps
