Well,

about to find out the truth about Ultratune. Dropped the car off thismorning, and got a lift witht them to work. They took my car as a test drive while dropping me off, and i was able to explain to them what my issues were.

The guy seemed very genuine... Will find out when i pick it up how it went of, and will post up here what i thought of them...

You cant judge a large chain of workshops as a single entity.

Each different branch has different mechanics in it and will do things a little differently.

Find a place with a good mechanic - be it an independent or a major brand. Better yet, if one of your mates is a qual mechanic take it to their workshop.

You cant judge by brand - it has no bearing on the bloke working on your car.

i wouldn't touch ultra tune or k mart if they were the last machanics on earth,

one f**k my brother in laws car and the other f**k my father in laws car,,and as has been said there is actually no such thing as a tune on a ecu controled car..it consists of:

1.change spark plugs
2.check leads
3.change oil
4.change oil and air filter
5.check timing
6.waiste your fuel tripping into town for lunches(does happen)
and look for other things to spend your money on.

do it yourself and save,,the only thing i get serviced on my car is the transmission.

I ahve used a few different Ultratune workshops and have nothing but praise for them ... their work has been excellent on previous cars.

As mentioned before ... you can't judge the entire chain ... it comes down to the actual mechanic that works there.

you get your good with the bad everywhere ... it's the luck in finding a good decent mechanic.
