I'll assume your talking about the broad band manifold, and yes you can it's called extrude honing. It's only really worthwile doing if you've done everything else there is to do.

if you are really keen. The worst spot on the manifold is just under the butterflies. there is about a 2-3 mm lip form the factory machining, where the tool has bored the casting for the butterflies to fit, you will see it. Smooth that out and get rid of all the cast marks inside and you will make it flow better. But that is something you would do to a VERY SERIOUS motor, there are a tone of things to do to the motor first. As for unplugging the vacume, that will loose you alot of low down torque, not a good idea! Put a mandrel bent air intake, quality filter, second intake into the air box (if you still want to use it) to start.

That will only stop the long runners from opening. Extrude honing smooths the casting dags and other rough surfaces that slow the flow of air.

extrusions honing is exy though they quoted me $300 to do mine, and i have read to many articles where people have tested it,not on falcons though, and seen no improvement. there was a vn build up done a while back where they yested everything they did to the car at the 1/4 and they saw absolutely no difference. i have cleaned mine by hand and gone the HPC rout.

I remember someone on here saying they adjusted the butterflies so that they opened completely parallel to flow (as apparently they only partially open - I have never looked to see if this is the case).

Apparently this was better up top (but there was no results apart from bum-o-meter), until I test it I will be unconvinced though.

I have my BBM in two pieces right here infront of me and the butterflies are sitting fully open. under vac they shut fully, so i am not sure what the go is with old mate messing with his. If anything mine open to far ever so slightly.

I would like to know the story behind that??????

are the butterly's at much of an angle (either before or after fully open) or parallel to airflow when fully open? Maybe if it goes too far past it was adjusted so it only opened the right amount?

meh, fingers me....I remember being pretty skeptical about it at the time, hence not paying attention to details

if intake is your thing, get a couple of 3 inch pipes and run them to the airbox then grab a 68mm throttle from the group buy

extrude honing the intake would be one of the last mods you would do to chase power..

stick to a..
after market camshaft..
extractors..
2.5 inch cat back exhaust..
cold air intake..
3 inch mandrel bend intake to the throttlebody..

I totaly agree with you on that. it is an extreme length. I have a six throttle body set up for mine as well but i can't use it till i go a full aftermarket ecu. that won'tr be this year. i can't wait to see how responsive it will be with them on it, i know it will loose low down but i am not concerned about that and i can play with runner lengths and trumpet lengths to find the sweet spot.
