Spend the money on 3.45: diff gears, that will help towing more then a cam change will.

Diff gears done professionally wont be cheap.

Secondhand extractors and 2.5 exhaust = $300-400 for both.
Biger intake snorkel from ford and a k&n filter = $150

Also BA upper intake pipe, that runs left to right across the top of the engine, is the most restrictive.
See www.autospeed.com search "falcon" and "air intake". = $40?

Theres 20-30 odd kw's. Problem solved :)

$450-$550

I'd keep the stock cam if you're towing. I have a Wade 1636 and lost a bit of torque below 1500rpm, not noticable in normal driving, but very noticable with a trailer on the back.

I agree with GASMAN on the suggested mods.

If you can pick up a complete 3.45 diff from a fairmont ghia or xr6, along with the appropriate speedo transducer gear, that might be a cheap way to improve your acceleration for say $300.

Mild head porting would be one way of improving your bottom end, but not cheap unless you can DIY.

go for the 1636, 4499's and 3.45 lsd. very nice to tow with.
my brother inlaws ed was more fuel efficient too with these mods, used around 3 litres less per 100km's..

I agree with the fuel savings above, the diff will be expensive though

thanks for all the help guys diff gears will be a bit of a problem as the closet place that could do it is wagga and iirc you cant put any other gears into a 3:08 housing is this true? oh and i already have a 2.5" cat back and i have adavanced the timing and run it on premium which has made a difference, i could diy the extractors and cam my self at work i just thought it might help a bit and i say fuel econ too because now i travel to wagga and back every week for tafe 100ks each way and kinda need my car most of the day so again diff gears willl most likely not happen well for a while at least  and 1 last question to pick your brains with, people say the 1636 dies out at about 4200-4500rpm is this that the extra power you get goes back to stock for another 1000revs or does it completly stop making any power at all and stops pulling what so ever? thankyou for your time again and being on apprentice wages makes these things difficult at times lol

With my 1636, it seems like I have more power than the stock cam, even above 4,500rpm. It is a lot more willing to rev to the redline since installing the 1636 cam.

The extra power is really noticable when overtaking on country roads.
