Hey Team, my cam is in the mail, and should be fitted before the weekend (fingers crossed), after a fortnight I'm gonna do my exhaust system.

Oringally, I wanted Pacey 4480's; 6>3>1 design, even more flow etc, but these are really as they're stated "competition header" aka top end power. This cam as far as I kno is more lower end and mid range, was thinking could prolly get away with 4499's; cheaper, and more suited to this power band..

(I don't really want to consider another manufacturer, have my heart set on either set from Pacemaker)

Do people think I'm on the right track? or get the 4480's regardless..

Who else has a 1636 specifically, and either of these headers? what other mods, and power are you making?

Wow! so this cam is gonna be pretty nuts?

What headers are you running with it?

Go the cheapest extractors, imo theres stuff all difference between half decent headers and so called competition ones on a relatively stock motor.

I have mixed feelings about the Wade cam over stock although knowing you have an aftermarket cam in there has a placebo effect. I guess with the auto box and wade cam i pulled 15.8 over the quarter (16.1 is normal for stock), prolly a 15.5 with more traction and a few more attempts. So yes it might knock a couple more tenths off your 1/4 mile. But somtimes it was hard to feel the difference, so its not gonna be as wild as your hoping.

When i converted to manual, there seemed to be heaps of go in it, so i reckon the cam comes alive more with a manual box.

So in other words, dont expect too much from the cam but it will make the motor feel stronger at lower revs and if its like my car, it will run a bit richer and chew a little more fuel around town, but still bring excellent fuel economy on the highway. Hope this helps.

Cheers guys. I'm not hoping for something too wild honestly, due to the k's on my car. It's just happening now as I've blown the head gasket, and the cam had to come out anyway, so I thought for $122 + freight from WADE Cams, I'd throw it in now.

If I found some 2nd hand 4499's at a good price, I'd prolly just grab them.

Should be good tho, the motor in it didn't really want to rev past 4500, with a 5000rpm redline.

the Pacey 4480's; 6>3>1 "competition" headers are made for more low to mid range torque, where as the 4499s are made for top end. if you dont belive me then contact pacemaker headers

slow down bud, who doesn't believe you?

It only made more sense to me that collectively 3 pipes of 44mm will flow more freely than 2 pipes of 48mm.. but on the other hand smaller pipes will have a quicker air-speed, therefore supporting your idea..

Anyway, I was really after who has this cam with which pacemaker..

I have the 1636 and the 4499's as well as some head work and yeah its a totally different car now. i keep wondering myself if the 4480's would have been the better choice but oh well its done now i am very happy. dont really have and times or figures for you but my bum gives it 9 out of 10 for the money i spent.

Cheers

^^ All good matey, it's text - sometimes not read as implied :D

Marchy looks like he's been in the same situation I am in right now, which is pretty much what I want to here, happy with the results with that cam and 4499's..

I'm my own worst enemy at times when it comes to making decisions. I guess I'll take whatever I can find out of those two headers. Obviously either are gonna work very well, but I'll prolly always wonder what the other would be like lol

That would be nice, but expensive. Would be good to see some figures I guess.. obviously not gonna be what I get on the dyno; so many variables, but just for interests sake.

Whatever I get I'll be sure to post the dyno results.
