Hi there,
Is anyone able to tell me the weight of an EB 4.0, trying to work out what rating of engine stand to buy. Cheers |

it's ROUGHLY about 180kg, but that's ROUGHLY, Buy a bloody big engine stand though if you ask me, the small ones are very unbalanced, I am gonna weld some extra supports to mine, I wouldn't want to put a 6cylinder on it, let alone a V8, It's only got a 4cyl on it at the moment and that's scary enough.

So a 400-450 kg stand would be ok ?

When I have finished reinforcing mine to be strong enough for my liking, it'll probably hold several tons, so you be the judge. I wouldn't ever use an engine stand that wasn't BLOODY MASSIVE.

I have used a supercheap 400kg stand with an ef motor on. Manifolds and all. If you have the stand already and a crane you could chuck it on the stand and just loosen the crane off a bit. If the stand breaks at least the motor won't go far.

I've currently got my fresh bottom end on the stand in the shed. It's a 450kg rated one, I borrowed it from a mate, as my 350kg stand which currently has my torana's engine on it wouldn't do the job without serious flex.
Having said that, I'm not impressed by how much the 450kg stand flexes. Buy the best you can afford! Don't buy one with a L shaped base & wheel setup, buy one with a C shape, much sturdier. Cheers ToranaGuy
