Hey Guys,
Hoping someone can figure out what this sound is and how to fix it...
It is pretty constant, can be there even when the car is off.

Sounds like pre ignition (a misnomer) or Run on? Which mostly is caused by excessive carbon in the head? Just a thought.

Thanks for replying Pendaws. This was actually recorded while the engine was turned off. Does that eliminate those possibilities?

Interesting noise. Maybe its the HIM module jamming somehow and trying to switch the hot and cold flaps beyond their limits. Maybe it needs to somehow be reset..

If you can handle disconnecting battery when you hear the noise that will eliminate electrics. Be advised battery disconnection has implications and if you don't understand seek further advise specific to your model before doing that. Sounds like a relay clicking or the remote drivers mirror motors on video. Check if electric mirror switch or window winder switch is stuck. Both should go away on battery disconnect. If its the mirror you should see it trying to move however both items should probably have no power when ignition is off.

Otherwise check for a half cooked woodpecker under the bonnet!

I've found sometimes noises don't actually come from where they sound like they are coming from. Most old mechanics will put their ear to a piece of garden hose when searching for noise culprit under bonnet that's not obvious. No reason that couldn't work here. It helps isolate the noise and gets loud thru the hose when your pointing straight at the source. Get some hose and start poking around under the dash.
