I have read a few threads in here which makes for a interesting debate

Q1. In a Automatic ford E sereies ( or any other series ) what gear will produce the most kwatts out of the engine ? first , second ,third and fourth gear run on the chassis dyno ?

or

Q2. In a manual gearbox ford E sereies ( or any other series ) what gear will produce the most kwatts out of the engine ? first , second ,third fourth and fifth gear run on the chassis dyno ?

Q3. what percentages % would the kwatts vary between gears if any variation at all ?

Q3a. What percentage from gear 1 to gear 4 on the manual car wouuld the kwatt % be different ??? take a stab and guess ??

Q3b. What percentage from gear 1 to gear 4( overdrive ) on the automatic car wouuld the kwatt % be different ??? take a stab and guess ??

and just to confirm the results i need two cars to test

1 a automatic ( would prefer a BA so i can use sports mode )
2 a 5 speed manual

to run on chassis dyno free of charge one night after work between 5pm and 7pm in melbourne Victoria .

will run both cars in all gears back to back , prefer vehicles that are not lowered as i will have to strap the cars down.

so need two volunteers for the dyno runs

cheers

PS : Pizza and drinks to be supplied by volunteers for dinner LOL ok ok ok so its not for free

Mr FPV_GTp,

If you are unable to find a BA auto, you are welcome to utilise my lowly, but still automatic, E-series

I know it would be easier to use a BA for this test, so keep my spot open. But if no one puts their hand up, I'm in.

Oh, and I have a mate with a 5 speed manual. If hes willing to torture his car a few more times, then that is a possibility as well. :D

I would assume a pizza with the lot + anchovies and a bottle of coke will suffice. 8-)

power should be the same in all gears, just the steepness of the curve should change. on a dyno a car should be able to pull maximum revs in overdrive as well but otherwise this will be the only gear power will be down as maximum revs may not be achieved. also speed limiters will come into play.

You still want a manual Ivan?
Unless Kyle is filling that spot?
I could probably swing the Sprint around, as long as it's on a week I'm not working arvo shift.
