Hi everyone, this is my first time on here so please be nice... .
Okay, so i hopped into my old trusty XG the other day, and when i turned the ignition to accessories the oil pressure gauge shot right up past the maximum, and that's where it stops. When i turn the ignition off, after about five minutes or so the gauge will go back the other way to nothing until i turn on accessories again. I recently replaced the rocker cover gasket as it was leaking, could i have knocked something? help! it is an old Ute and if she loses oil pressure I've no way of knowing

Sounds like you may have knocked the wire loose from the oil pressure sender.

Hi Esteven8. Thanks for the quick reply. This is going to sound stupid but... where would i find the sender on the XG to check the wires? thanks.

It's on the passenger side of the engine underneath the intake manifold and above and slightly forward of the engine mount. Prick of a spot to get at, removing the airbox (If its E.F.I.) helps. What type of gauge is it? Factory one incorporated in the cluster or an aftermarket type? It's only a single wire if it's the factory gauge.

Thanks. Its a factory fitted gauge, and it is E.F.I. At least its only one wire, might make life a bit easier... haha
