Ive just purchased a XH snorkel and tried to fit it onto my ED falcon today. Following the doco on this site it appeared to me that the XH does not fit. Then I came across this site http://us.geocities.com/eseries_fords/XHSnorkel.html

It seems that the doco we have misses the rather important step of cutting off the snorkel mount. Consequently the 10minute time esttimate is also a bit off.

So I just wanted to confirm with those who have fitted an XH snorkel whether you need to saw off the existing snorkel mount or if there is another way. If you do then maybe someone should look at updating the doco.

-cheers

I dunno if the later E series is different but I had no trouble with fitting the XH snorkel to my EB. Took me longer to go the fridge for a celebratory drink!

yeh it says in the docco that it needs 2 b sawn off.. it took about 5 minutes for me to saw it off and about another 1 minute to put snorkel on... less than 10minute estimate in my opinion :)

HI
IF you have ea or series 1 eb there is a part on the fan shroud that the original snorkle joins to. its the mouth of the snorkle it has to be cut off to fit the xh one...

Well I have an ED and it has the fan shroud which joins to the mouth of the stock snorkel...

Also I still can't find anything in http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=33
about any cutting, unless there is another XH doco somewhere on this site.

I guess mine was easy cos I didn't just change the snorkel. I changed the whole box and the shroud as well.

all you have to do is saw the existing snorkle shroud thing off with a hacksaw and then file down the cuttings. Then put the XH snorkle on and if you want, place a piece of metal over the front and pop rivet it down so that no air goes underneath the snorkle inlet
