Hi all, sometimes when i push on the throttle the engine revs up but the car doesnt accelerate much and then all of a sudden it accelerates hard then again it cuts out. This has been happening more and more often. When i took it to ford they said a hose had come loose and they reattached it. after that it was going fine until a week ago it started happening all over again. Can anyone tell me where this hose is and if i can re attatch it myself? My car is an 2003 XR6 turbo manual. Thanks

Vacuum hose?? (unsure of location) I'd be taking it back to the ford dealer asking why, if they have fixed it, its happening again.

it6 will probably be a hose at the back of the BBM manifold (the one with the curved shapes that the intake pipes go over)

Take the intake pipes off, you'll need a 7mm and a 10mm socket (or justa 10mm socket)

the pipe will prbably be the map sensor pipe, or a vacuum pipe.

have a look, when you finmd the pipe, go ans get a hose clamp for the right size (it will be small) and make it so it CAN'T come off.

If none of the pipes are off, check them all for cracks.

If none of the above, it may be that MAP sensor itself. To clean that iot is easiest to take the top of the BBM manifold off and clean out with petrol and a paint brush. You'll find alot of other s**t in there than can do with a clean also.

I recommend cleaning your throttle body with a rag when you take the intake pipe off also, this will help in ways you can't imagine until you experience it.

Clean every bit you can get to with your fingers and a rag..

Good luck, hopefully it is simple to fix

Happy Motoring

Mine falls off all the time, its usually the hose that goes from the intercooler into the half of the crossover pipe that goes into the throttle body. This time the entire rubber gasket between the throttle body and crossover has actually split and leaking boost so the car is now a slug :(

Easy to fix though, good chance it will be that.
