i was thinking of getting a power antenna for my car, because some a**hole bent mine, just wondering how the hell you get in to take the old one out and replace it, from what i can see you have to take the front passenger quarter panel off...is that right? and how much of a task is it for a newbie, should it take 30 mins? hour? 90mins?

Cheers.

Dont have to take off the guard. Just remove the mudflap, and the black plastic inner guard. On my eb, once i removed the guard i could get to the antenna, but it was a bit tight because i only bent back part of the inner guard, didnt remove it. If your car already has an electric antenna its probably not too bad, but mine didnt so i had to run new wires and setup a DPDT momentary switch.

as above, remove the plastic lining, either turn the wheel hard left or remove it may be easier to get the room, if its non auto you will need to run wires, usually positve and a control wire (+12v), earth is normally where the mast mounts to your gaurd. depends on the model of your kenwood deck but most K/W decks have a seperate antenna control so it only goes up when you select the tuner function :D
time depends on how quick you work, and if you don't f**k up, under 2 hrs should be a fair guess

the deck is model #:KDC-MP858, and has control wire(s).

just another quick question, how do i go about getting the control wire/positive wire from where the antenna mounts to where my deck is, where the existing antenna cable comes though to the deck...is there a big enough gap to get them thru there?
