Hi all,
I just put my very nice two way alarm system in my EL... and I wanted to put block plugs in the wiring so I can remove it from the looms easily when changing things around.. Went to Jaycar and spent 25 bucks on their crimping block plugs only to discover they are the cheapest nastiest block plugs in history and in one case it wouldn't even clip together because the designers put the cliplock on the wrong side of the bottom plug and the terminals don't connect solidly despite being soldered onto the wires instead of crimped... Long story short, where can I get decent block plugs from? anyone know? I spent 20 minutes scouring eBay and Google can't can't find anything useful but it's possible I'm looking for the wrong search terms. rgds Frank |

Have you thought about just going to a wreckers and getting a second hand set (off any car)?
The self serve wreckers are the best for this sort of thing.

Yeah... I did think about that... I also have an EL in the backyard with lots of blockplugs in it.. I'd already cut off the closest ones... problem is, the wring is not thick enough.. or at least not all of them..
I'm at the point now.. where I am pulling out all my old PC power supplies and cutting off the male and female power plugs... they are better quality than the crap jaycar sold me... just not as professional looking as I'd prefer and I'll need to use heaps of them.... ugly, but functional I guess.. (*cheap too.*) |

yeah, thanks, I got some Narva ones from Repco.. have not had a chance to replace them yet though.

yeah, I know.. I'm an IT person at UWA.. . just couldn't remember the name when I was writing it.... I found about 20 old power supplies when I was looking in my bits bin so I've cut them all off the dead ones and will use them if the narva kit doesn't work out.

fwiw, get a proper crimping tool for uninsulated terminals from DSE, etc
