I got a car alarm installed on the Fairywagon on wendesday. All seemed OK until I went to the drive ins last night.

The keys are in - set to accessories, the radio is playing, we are standing around outside chatting. Open the car door OK - close the car door - alarm goes off.

After setting the alarm on 3 times I crack the s**t, and use the key to turn the siren off.

I rang up Strathies today to say I think the alarm is fauly, or installed incorrectly. I explain what happened. the guy says thats perfectly normal. I say, the alarm is useless to me as is (especially the fact it doesnt go off until you close the doors), and then the guy says I should have REQUESTED it to be installed that way, and it will cost extra to change it, because it needs new diodes, and wiring. I say "I think your wrong there, my sister has the exact same alarm in her car, and hers doesnt do this" he then started with the "I have installed hundreds of car alarms, I think I know what I am talking about"

to make matters worse, he then said no one can book my car in to be looked at till monday, cos the guy who does the bookings isnt in. I ask to speak to a salesperson. He books my car in to be looked at.

Can anyone offer some advise on what to say, as I think they will try to pull a swifty, and charge me for something that should have been done in the first place.

Id either ring their head office and make it crystal clear your NOT impressed and remind them the importance of "word of mouth" advertising.. Failing that tell them you will submit this poor display of responsibility to one of the "current affair" type shows or www.notgoodenough.com.au

If you dont keep quiet it will be easier for them to just do the work n get you out of their hair.
Working in retail for a year now has shown me many things, and one funny thing is even if the customer isnt right its not hard to kick up one hell of a fuss and the store/company in question will rather pretend you're are correct than prove you wrong over the case of petty items.
Of course if you are talking a huge purchase or something blatantly incorrec they will tell you plain n simple to take a walk and contact consumer affairs if they have a problem with you or your company.

Sorry to ramble haha.

the first thing you did wrong honestly was go to strathfield radio, second thing was get a black widow

they always have faults with everything you can think, especially shock sensor and alarm trigger internally..

personally, get a new car alarm as it'll get worse and worse and strathfield dont give a rats a** on fixing it and will just do the bodge.. very easy alarm to by pass too mind you!

sorry to say but been through this before and found all thsi out myself too lol

I will see how they go..

Last time I was unhappy with strathies service (I bought 2 no name 12" subs), I threw a tantrum, and ended up with a 12" MTX competition sub.

They wanted to keep me happy (ie - keep my money) and told me to pick something else... I picked the "pretty silver one, in the box" <insert eyelid batter>

Wow - its like 3:10, and I woke up only 15 mins ago.

Have already received a call from Hasan at Black widow. Explained what happens with the alarm, and he said its a 5second fix!!

I have to call him back in a few mins, and he said to come down, and he will fix it for me.

OK... its all sorted.

The guy from Black widow said to give Strathies 1 more try. He told me what to say.

Diodes are only needed for feedback
The Yellow wire is connected to the "Black Red" instead of the "Blue"

Strathies rang up yesterday morning. I told them what was wrong again. They said "thats how they work"
I told them what Black widow said to me
"Ok - we will be there in 15 mins"

All fixed now!!!
