ok, i was thinking about this 2day,

as far as im aware, you cant get an ipod adaptor for the premo sound system to replace the CD stacker,
but, im pretty sure, somewhere along the lines, and audio signal would have to go from the CD stacker to the ford head unit,

has anyone ever tried to tap into the plug yet?
was anyone successful?

of not, does anyone know what each wire does?

what i want to do is make up a plug to replace the CD stacker with an ipod,
it would probably just plug into the headphones socket, but i know for a fact when the CD stacker does not work like it should, it displays an "Error" message on the screen, but the stacker needs to be pluged in to be able to even get to that screen!

so, the plans:
1. make the head unit think the stacker is plugged in,
2. make the head unit thing the stacker is working (both 1 and 2 im sure would be with a low voltage signal wire)
3. find the wire/s that take the audio signal from the stacker and wire a head-phone jack

so, does anyone think it can be done?

(yes, im aware it would be easier to just replace the head unit, but second year apprentices get paid in dog food, and JB hi-fi hates taking payments in that!)

If you just want to replace the stacker with your ipod im pretty sure you can get a cable (ebay) that plugs into where the stacker plugs into the head unit and connets to ur ipod at the other end.
Might be worth a look

These are available for the AI net series headunits but not for the M bus series headunits, what you can get though is a Mp3 stacker that will plug into the factory headunit via an adaptor. If you want to use an iPod properly than buy a new headunit that has full iPod control so you don't need to fiddle with the iPod while driving and control it all from the headunit which you will never be able to do from the factory unit...

This is what you need, ive used a similar one on an alpine headunit with m-bus input and it worked fine.
