You're not going to like them.

- glovebox
- fully customise the ICC, by moving the factory screen, to the bottom, and installing the double din unit in the place where the factory screen is, re-wiring it all so the factory screen still works. This has been done, but is either very hard (to do), or very expensive (for a pro to do).

I'd suggest you sell the double din unit, and get a single DIN one with fold-out screen (if required). As a single din unit can be easily fitted directly under the ICC with no mods required = easy and cheap.

Sorry.

Ok well lets say I do go for the single din option;

What is required in order to install the deck?
Any cutting etc?
Does anyone had the pin outs for the stock stereo?
Would it be hard to do myself?

Cheers

1.
- install deck in tissue box holder (I've seen there's now an aftermarket alternative that looks great, and no modding needed), depending on the real size of the unit, the tissue box holder will need some mods to make it fit nice. Nothing major.
- run power and accessories wires. Accessories can be gotten from the cig lighter (aka 'power source'), constant power I ran a wire from the fuse box directly. You could get this from the ICC wiring if you wanted.
- run speaker wire. I ran new wire out to the doors, not using any of the factory wiring. If you didn't want to run wires to the doors (it is a pain in the a**), grab the speaker wires from the ICC loom.
2. That's easy enough to get.
3. if you've done head unit installs before, it's easy, if not, it isn't that hard, but you may want to get some help so everything goes smoothly.

We made them from vinal covered MDF when I worked in the industry..

But your better off selling the dbl din and get the color factory upgrade second hand... then integrate the alpine module into it.. factory looks and controls, all the extra's of an aftermarket system, and it's almost plug and play.

@ducatti119, that's the aftermarket pocket I was talking about. Saw one installed in a XR8 ute yesterday, works very well.

data mine, i just bought one aswell. am going to strip my vinyl mdf out and put this in. will be putting in a xr icc unit and changing the gear shift globe to blue at the same time. as for wiring, i just stole all the wires i need from the icc unit, no need to re run the wire thats already there.
frankie h, the cost of getting a colour screen icc, installing it and getting ford to recode it, then getting the alpine module and installing it, would run close to $2k. i got a mid series mp3 pioneer deck with ipod capability, jbl 4 channel amp, jbl 5x7's in the rear, mtx splits in the front, 2 x 10 inch subs in double box, pioneer 380 watt rms mono block amp and had it installed for $1250. i know which i would prefer, ford factory stereos are sh*t.

im currently writting a tech doc on how to do this if anyones interested.
it is a lot easier to do if you dont mind loosing the factory screen, i.e. you cant see what vent the aircon is blowing.
