I'm currently debating whether to buy and install a head unit or simply connect an auxiliary adapter and quick fix for now. A head unit is my more ideal decision although I wanted to know if it's possible to pair the volume controls on the steering wheel to the head unit. If possible, is it an easy job? What needs to be done and bought to achieve this? and finally is it expensive. Thank you.

Hey mate

I had a pioneer h/u installed and the guy wired in a adapter box which allows me to use the steering wheel controls. The adapter cost me $350 installed.

I have this installed

http://www.amazon.com/PAC-SWI-RC-Steeri ... B004HKBY8G

Will cost you 50 to 60 depending on the exchange rate...

Works great... Works with any headunit... You just wire it into switch power and earth (red and back on the aerpro harness) and then find the wire which leave the buttons (is red with a trace on AU) and then hook that into the white wire on the PAC unit... Leave all the others untouched... Set the brand of hu it will be talking to... Plug the headphone jack into the back of the unit (make sure the unit supports wired remote)... And then follow the instructions to program the buttons... Can be installed by itself in a couple of hours maybe... I've done three now...

Cheers,
Tim

Works with factory AU, BA, BF and FG buttons no worries... All set via programming which is straight forward... Took me a while to suss out if it would work because their literature doesn't cover Aussie vehicles... Once I i'd sent a dozen emails I have an idea how to connect it...

Cheers,
Tim
