ok a few questions
1. what colours are the power, ground and constand power on an EA? 2. Will a pioneer head unit work with no speakers plugged in as i am running all of my speakers off an amp? 3. from what i can gather the yellow is acting as an earth for the red wire, what would cause this? |

you will still need to plug the amp/speakers into the headunit to get the sound.
should be Red, Black and Yellow (in your order)

yellow green should be constant, yellow red should be batt and black or blue or brown (i cant memba) should be ground.... i think, its been a while since ive had to do an ea install!

should find the wiring colours in the technical documents, yeah teh pioneer unit will turn on with no speakers connected to the inbuilt amp.

get your multimeter and find out:
which wire is continous to the car's body (earth wire) which wire has + potential against the earth when the key is off, and which wire has + potential against the earth only when the key is on if u dont have a multimeter they are like 9 bucks from jaycar
