Just had a look, the type x subsare 83db sensitivity and type r are 85db. i think then going by incar sensitivity info, for an extra 3 db you get double the volume, correct me if i am wrong. But going by that the type r should be 1.66 of the type x volume.

sensitivity figures generally arent something you should pay attention to, kinda like MAX, PMPO and EIAJ power figures....

as others have suggested, Digital Designs, Rockford Fosgate, Kicker and even JL's W7's are all good (JL are more of a SQ brand, the W7 was intended to be more of a SPL sub, but JL couldnt help making them sound good too)

you're a member of CAA, so why not post a thread in the SPL section asking for advice?

Mate if your are dedicated SPL then it would be hard to go past the digital designs 9917. ! of these will require your whole boot for a box and will more then likely beat the 6 type r's with enough power. I believe the loudest car in aust is running 2 of the subs and LOTS of power. A mate of mine was runningn a dd 3515, fairly bottom of the line at 1200wrms and acieved 140.9 on a termlab in a civic, running in street b so stock battery. He has since bought another and and a 9515, it will be running at 0.5ohm, 4000wrms in his maxima and should be capable of around 145db. www.fhrxstudios.com/ $5000 exactly for a 9917 and a z1, thatll see u winning trophies, flexing your roof and bouncing the windcreen wipers. lol.

Why alpine??? I know everyone has said this as well but why??

This alpine is something that people have in beach car parks. (the guys that go to the beach but don't wear bathers and boardies, they just sit next to their car with all their bros)

JL W7 is good but I've had a bad experience with one so not going that again.

Digi designs seems the way to go mate, but you gotta match bass with some mid range and high range right?
Cause you won't be doof doofing all the time right?
If you are you're a f**k lebbo. (sorry, had to get that out)

Not really that much into comps and awards, not me. I do it more forh the challenge of the install and i like learning about this s**t, like fibreglassing and s**t. This way would present a real bloody challenge. Having to make full fibreglass door trims, fibreglass parcel shelf and boot. The system is a bonus for all the work i put in. eg the current parcel i have took me five days straight from 7 in the morning to 9 at night.

What did u mean by this line ? "$5000 for a sub, wtf i'm not much into it, thats just an obsession."

Mate just get 2x rockford fosgate power series T1 or T2 12" subs...masive SPL and still good SQ run of one awesome monoblock amp or maybe 2 small dedicated ones for each sub

But you're gonna spend $6000 on subs that are inferior to different setups that are cheaper.

You're on drugs.

I think we're all trying to talk you out of this for your own good.

I've got a custom install coming up after exams. That thing is gonna be s**t hot. It'll be loud (but not SPL loud) for only about $3000.

But what people are saying is: For the price of 6 R types you could get 2 great subs and amplify them properly and get the same or better performance.

Get my drift?
