Hi all,

I recently butched a spare dash loom to get myself an ICC Loom so I can hook up and test them and find the best place for RCA and amp pickups and also to test the RGB output on the board.

I got the whole plug labelled and when it's powered up I get the "code" on the screen and nothing works.

From memory, holding down the AM bottom on the premium ICC gets it to work for 5 minutes.. which is sufficient for most testing..

makes no difference on the povo-pack unit I have been testing with.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the povo pack unit to work however briefly??

I have a BEM and looms and a cluster and looms.. so I can build a CAM bus and see if I can get it all functional.. but for the purposes of these experiments, I just need the ICC to work for brief periods like my premium unit did before I got it coded...

thoughts?

regards

Frank

Hi Robert,

I'll give that a go.. fingers crossed.. I don't really "have" to do my testing with the povo unit.. but its' good to do as much as I can with them because I don't I don't care if I fry them.... I have several to play with.. just don't want to do that with a premo unit as i only have a couple of those.

thank you.

regards

my loom works anyway.. I also want to build a canbus device with an Ardinio and a raspberry pi.. then i can work with Canbus using the python language.. Once I have a working custom Canbus device in the system, I can do all manner of cool things.. not the least of which would be converting back and forth between busses.. meaning that just may well be able to get an FG cluster fully functional in a BA/BF.. I'll just have to set the module to sniff traffic to see what the BA/BF clusters get from the BEM.. then do the same with an FG to see what it needs and on what bus.. then I can code it up to act as go between. It's a good project to learn from anyway.

no worries, defiantly better to do the "testing" and initial trying on a povo unit, they are sorta more "disposable" and a darn site cheaper than the premium ones. going to be following this well myself (please keep us well updated lol) as i kind of have plans of "recycling" my old povo unit into a sort of a home stereo unit. (make a box up, chuck a set of speakers off the side) when i finally finish the work being done in my xr. i was also thinking of using just a arduino to send the "security" codes and unlock it on start up (have ro refresh my auduino knowledge) and maybe also add remote operation via the push buttons and or the steering wheel buttons. failing all that butchering out the bem and can wires and keeping a old bem wired in and coded might be enough for my case and the security and then the arduino just for remote operations.

Funny you should say that.. I've just bought an auduino and a CANbus shield.. going to make a module that can translate between BF CAN and FG CAN, hopefully allow me to put an FG cluster in my BA/BF.

Then later on, perhaps an FG premium ICC too.. just for kicks. :-)

More likely though, I'll put a 14 ish inch touchscreen in portrait mode and replace the whole thing with an Intel NUC and an auduino for the CAN connection.)

First step is to plug in and sniff my canbus between ICC/PCM/BEM/CLUSTER see what gets sent for every control I manipulate.

Then do the same for an FG, I know a guy that wrecks FG's and he will let me hook into them for testing. Find out what the FG cluster needs that it isn't getting from the BF BEM and perhaps the auduino can provide it. I'm going to call it my "CANverter" :-)
