hey.
can anyone tell me how i can set up a second battery in the boot to run the sound system/dvd player/amps/monitors off...

basically what i want is a seperate battery just for these things.

can anyone help as i dunno where to start.

there is a special unit for this where it runs power from the second battery but charges off the alternater from the first. it preserves enought battery in the primary battery to start the car. i think pirana makes one but not sure best to check jaycar ect.

do you know what this unit is called ???

You could just get a 100 amp relay to isolate one battery when the engine is switched off, or look at Jaycar's Dual battery Isolator (MB-3670).

I think a relay would be much cheaper - I used one on my EB dual battery setup, and had twin Bosch's in the boot for years with no worries. First battery is wired up as normal, second battery negative normal, but connect the relay so both battery positives connect when the ignition is turned on.

Make sure your alternator is up to charging 2 batteries tho.

Relay is exatly what you need...I run a Stinger 250A relay in mine....let me know if ya need any help
