Hi,at work we have a NF fairlane 4L.Now it came in with a problem which we have been trying to figure what has been causing it.

Problem:Customer had troubles with starting the car over may be couple of weeks,it kept blowing the interior lamp 10amp fuse,so they decided to fit a 30amp fuse in its place.

Continued:Now since they have done this you can start the car without the interior lamp fuse in the fuse holder. But once removed the acc relay under the dash and body control module click like click, click etc constanly. But when you refit a 10amp fuse it stops. This is the problem we are trying to find and fix the cause of it.

Also while the interior lamp fuse is removed and the key is either turned to the on position with dash lights or to accessory it will still click body control/acc relay. Also being on the same circuit the interior lights in the doors will flash.

Have removed Body control and opened it up to check if anything has been fried but seems to be fine.

We have done many tests but still havent been able to crack it.One thing forsure though the interior lamp fuse pins in the holder have power both sides.Obviously you hav 12volts one side and the other should have zero volts with no fuse in place and then when fitted with a fuse should equal the other 12volts from the other side. But also measured the other pin without the fuse in place and it has 10.12volts.

Would you say maybe 2 wires have melted together ????What could we look at??

Also with the body control disconnected, the black single plug at the top of the module the door lights have power to them but they are very very dull....

Any help would be much appreciated.....

cheers

sounds like the doors, cables going thru the body to each door,1 has rubbed thru and picked up power, sending back.

ignition barrel?

start by de-commissioning accessories. undo the radio plug, undo the brake light switch, hego sensor, basically any large consumer.

use a DC amp meter to check for any other loads.
