Those will pump hard as.
The centre sub in my setup is a pioneer 800w 10". On it's own it's not too bad... so two 12" 1200w will dominate :D

Bit of an update.. this is what my setup ended up looking like:

I'll post some more pics once I put the new subs in.
Rattle is pretty minimal with these, but I figure I'll have some bigger issues with the new subs =/

Hey guys,
Starting work on the audio and sound treatment of an FG XR6 ute, Amazing how little treatment there are in these!
So far all surfaces in the rear have copped at least 1 layer of dynamat. All holes/cavities have been filled with Acoustisorb 3 and sealed.
I have measured roadnoise in cabin and will let you know how much of a difference all the treatment makes.
I run an audio production/install company so this is a great little hobby that also ties in with work.
Once this is all completed I will write up a full summary on the install with all photos and figures so anyone who is keen on knowing more about the job feel free to hit me up for a copy.

Have most of you guys treated your cabins before working on your systems?
Cheers,
J

Hey J,
I'll be watching this with great interest. I want to do this to my BA ute, simply because of the road noise. I get a headache driving from bendigo to melbourne and back... Haha, can't wait to see the figures on noise reduction. I've got some prices on Dynamat from some local guys and it's not cheap...
It's funny you should say about how little sound treatment ford put into the utes, we took the tub off of a mates "ripcurl" XR6 ute and there wasn't even paint on the back of the cabin... It was undercoat, almost like they put the tub on and then sprayed the ute. Anyway i guess thats ford for you. So no wonder they dont worry about sound.
Cheers Paul.

Yeah it is an expensive job but i figure I will have this ute for a while and at least I can claim the product.
So far what you see there is a full bulk pack, about 1 sheet went into both of the rear speak cavities easy 4 sheets went on the back wall with a single sheet doubled up in the center 2 sheets do the step and sides.
I have a full 1/2 thick dyna liner going over the top off all this and then a acoustisorb3 center pad to replace factory insulation behind the back "seat" insert.
All cavities where filled with insulation and then taped over to keep it noice and clean.
I did a bunch of testing to find where to most road noise was coming from and it's all through the back, next worst point is the doors so I will treat them next week when the next bulk pack arrives.
If I get this back together today I will run some of my road noise tests again and give you a ball park on how much has changed by just working on the back wall.

Got it all back together after stage 1
I will keep the factory speaker set up until all treatment is finished for consistency, after listing through a few tracks the low end has a noticeable difference in definition. Time for some tests and I will get the results up in the next few days.

Made a he-uge difference in my au. Non professional job, doesn't look as pretty as yours but with no meters can compare the road noise to my fairmont now.

Doesn't matter how pretty it is as you only end up covering it up.
Ps I have never treated a car before, I just took my time. Also a good tip is for the big sheets use cardboard to template the cut first them transfer it.

So will you be doing the floor? Under seats and in the footwells?

I believe the liners are the way to go for the floor pans, more cost effective and less troubles if you ever have moisture in there.
I installed fairlane carpet and that has some pretty aggressive deadening on it which made further difference, A liner would be the next step for me, but I think I'll do the doors first.

To be honest though I find once you get to a certain point, it takes alot more effort to produce the same results, (law of diminishing effect).

Start off with the biggest broadest areas, and something I never considered at the time but noticed on JRJs setup is block all holes. I blocked a few but at the time didn't respect the difference the holes in the body make.... all of them.

Sorry if this is a stupid question... But what do you mean by liner?
