I am looking to replace everything in my AUII XR6 ute, plus add speaker amp/s, mono amp/s and sub/s... But want to see how people have organized them in the cab.

I am currently trying to design a custom mount to sit over the rise behind the centre console, housing all the amps and maybe a sub either side facing outward (or if I have a single sub, amps on the outside with the sub facing forward into the cab).
Just want to see what people have done... See if there is a better way out there...

Do you have any intention of using this vehicle for it's intended purpose ?

Well that's the challenge, to modify the car/tray to suit a wide variety of needs and wants. I want to use it for accomodation (my family is spread from Mt Isa to Goulburn), I am a first year apprentice fitter and turner (so I'll need to transport tools at the least), I'm young (so will be moving house a fair bit) and one day maybe a motorbike.
So I have to balance the needs of all the desired uses of my ute... But I guess in a sense no it will never be used for it's intended purpose... Otherwise I would get rid of the style side tub, and put a nice tray back on it with some nice custom made toolboxes.

so why don't you go all out and make a custom tray ? 'style sides' aren't style sides. Have you seen american utes ? I've seen au's with adapted style sides and they look like an abortion gone wrong. If you're going to do it, do it properly.
Be a trady not a c0ck slapper that should own an irs commonwhore ute. Use if for work not w4nk. I have a 12' behind one seat with over 1000 watt RMS through the whole system and believe me, you don't need anymore in a ute, unless you're a full on c0ck slapper.

fair enough...
well i see your not a fan of style side tubs, and i am an apprentice trady... but i work in a workshop, i am a machinist. so unless i am going to mount a mill and a lathe in the back... im sh*t out of luck of using my ute for work. there isnt any need for me to have a 'commercial' ute.

yeah i thought that would be right, just heard a few different opinions about how much is needed...

Fair enough. Depending on where you work, when you're out of you're time you will still have you're own tools. Probably not as many as most but you will still have you're own gear. Should buy a flat bed and run a portable lathe n mill lol.

I actually think style sides are nice, I just haven't seen one look good on an au yet. You might be the pioneer  Don't let me talking shyt discourage you though lol. Go for it, just be prepared to pay for it.

yeah, i am just about to get a bit over $3000 worth of tools... so yeah ill defs have tools... but yeah just not like most trady's i guess...
btw, am liking your idea about the flat bed... though might be a bit hard to get a good finish on the job lol

dont worry, it wont discourage me, ill take that as a challenge... hope i dont let you down :p
yeah i will be paying for it, ideas so far put me at about $4000-$5000... so yeah expensive

i have just built a staggered rack for directly behind centre console to house 4 channel plus a mono block plus a processor and capacitor just imagine like a three tier even set of steps but slightly over hanging each other so that 2 thirds of each amp and processor are exposed at the top for looks. If i was not a retard and could work this computer id post a pic up but unfortunately i dont know how.
Cheers
obie

well when you figure that out i would very much like to see that, that is similar to the set up i would like to have in my ute...

i just got two 10" slim line pioneer 1200W subs, so i was thinking i would have one behind each seat then have the 2 or 3 amps staggered up the centre like your setup... so yeah, would very much like to see how yours is done...

I have an Xg ute and I had an amp mounted between the buckets and although it looked great I have opted to dropping it under the seat. I Just think with a shiny amp in clear view for everyone to see is just asking for it to be stolen. I will be watching this thread though to get some idea's myself. My slow build is going...... slowly but its getting there and reading some ideas will help. Good thread mate

cheers obie, that looks really neat in the cab... doesnt look out of place at all. very well done...

yeah, would be nice to see a couple more people contributing aye raven... but i guess if you keep watching long enough then you might see something that will really suit your taste and needs...
but i know what you mean about the slow build haha being a first year apprentice... cash is rare...

o and yeah obie, i have had a lot of people suggest JL to me. but i figure i will just put in the subs/amp now, then put JL speakers in... though having difficulty finding some suitable speakers.
