Hey guys
Can anyone tell me how the TV tuners work? as in will the ones off ebay from like hong kong be able to pick up the tv channels such as nbn, prime and ten over here? And does the tuning just run through the stereo aerial? Cheers |

its a digital tuner probably alpine and it will be able to get the stations better. i think they cost like 600 max

yeah - analogue tuners suck. (i've got an alpine one)
it has 2 wire aerials stuck on the inside of the glass. (back window) i'd get a digital one - much clearer. they advertise in car audio magazines.

Yeah my old DVD player had one in-built.... Could just pick up channels on a crappy 1ft stero ariel... You need to buy a TV ariel for your car, they sell them on ebay but IMO they look f**k s**t!

It's the tuner part that's digital - like a set top box.
They just have a standard RCA connection. If you've got a screen - it'll work.

It's difficult to get a clear image while moving.
Good for when you're waiting for someone I guess. You can pick up 12v digital tuners for less than $100 RRP so I wouldn't bother with ebay stuff if you can avoid it.

I think digital tv tuner would be the way to go
so I have the in dash dvd player, so that means I have the screen, so all I need it the digital tv tuner and thats it? does it pick up like nbn, prime and ten does it? |

My mate had a DigiCrystal SDT-1000EX in his car ( I checked for ya).
It's a Standard Definition digital tuner which runs off 12v.

You can buy an SD DVB-t receivers that run on 12V and are not much bigger than a pack of ciggies. @ $99 they are a bargain with a remote to boot.
DVB is very good for mobile applications but the antenna would need to be up to it. Try the Good Guys, I am sure I have seen them there.
