I was just wondering what would be the best amp (mono/2/4 channel) to get max potential of a JBL sub

# Power Handling: 1100W Peak / 275W RMS
# Frequency Response: 45Hz – 150Hz
# Sensitivity (2.83V @ 1m): 92dB
# Impedance: 4 Ohms
# Dimensions (L x D x H): 570mm x 305mm x 369mm (22-7/16” x 12” x 14-1/2”)

and run 6" JBL 250W splits off it aswell? (in a ute)

Any help much appreciated :)

If you only want to run 3 speakers, you don't need a 6 channel amp.
Depending on your budget, clarion make a good bridgable 4 channel for 300, alpine make a great bridgable 4 channel for around 400.

are you a dead s**t? it's 4 speaker channels and 2 sub/mono channels. all bridgeable if needed. i run 2 front speakers, 2 rear speakers and two subs WITH no vocals on the subs hence being mono

Seeing as your sub is 4 ohms, you could run a single 4 channel amp, with 2 channels running the splits, and the other 2 channels bridged to run the sub. Would need RMS power ratings for the splits to make a more informed choice... But from the info you've given, your best bet would be the Jaycar AA0426; would be perfect. The splits will get 100Wrms each, and the sub will get >300Wrms, and only $299! Can always keep an eye out on ebay for a bargain too...

Here's more info on the amp: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0426&CATID=24&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=595

does this help with the splits situation?

Power Handling, RMS 70 Watts
Power Handling, Peak 210 Watts
Frequency Response (±3dB) 55Hz - 21kHz
Sensitivity 92dB
Mounting Depth 2-1/16" (53cm) Mid-Woofer, 1" (25mm) Tweeter
Cut-Out Diameter 5-1/8" (129mm) Mid-Woofer, 1-3/4" (43mm) Tweeter
Impedance 2 Ohms

Is JBL a decent brand? because the sub was only $178 on special from $250 and the splits were $179 down from $230 or something similar. Not a big wizz on whats hot n whats not.

also, what would be a guesstimate price on installation of the sub, splits, amp and maybe a head deck in the tissue box. The other option was keeping the factory radio and getting a LC6 line output converter, but then no MP3's

Who's the s**t ya dumbass, as southy said, i was not refering to you. What a C**k.

The thread maker states he has 3 speakers to drive, so he doesn't need a POS 6 channel.

2006_BF_UTE - JBL car audio is just cheaper end gear. The sub you have will still work fine. A bridgable 4 channel is what you need. The front channels will drive the splits, while the rear channels bridged will run the sub.
There is a vast choice of 4 channels these days that pump 70rms per channel, which is ideal for the splits. The subs rms is higher than this, however this will still be fine. I have been feeding my 300rms sub only 120 rms for ages.

Southy = Legend.

LOL, you must be one of those "keyboard warriors" that i've heard about. Grow up.

Jbl is rubbish, which is why you paid $330 for 6 channels of it. But someone has to keep JB HIFI running.

Not sure what the crack was about my car was supposed to mean, but i really couldn't care less.

As i already suggested, for the same or slightly more money he can get.

1: Something more suitable, ie: bridgable 4 channel
2: Something better.

With audio gear, you get what you pay for really. JBL is cheap eastern wolrd made crap thats made cheap for the consumer who can't/doesn't want to spend more. Fair enough.

Clarion make good entry level stuff, recently my mate bought a great 4 channel that drives west coast splits, and some 12" sub. Its loud and sounds good.

The last amps i bought were alpine. I think they were $400 each? anyway, the 4 channel drove 4 x soundstream splits, and the mono block drove 2 x alpine type R 12's. They were only $400 each and were much better than anything esle for that money, and even more expensive amps.

So this is what i suggest. Depending on what the budget allows, its then a question of what kind of quality you want.

Andrew.

Yeah because you already have them, there is no point replacing them. Splits are better than the coaxials, so your on the money there.

Just try to match the rms watts output to the speakers as close as you can, and it'll sound ok.
