whatabout setting the speed alarm so you know when you are going over your set speed, Its on the Mode button of your steering wheel controls, hold it in for a few seconds until it beeps, then adjust the speed up and down and its done, great for long trips.

I think the only thing goin through my head for upto 2 days after i bought the ute was thank f**k i bought a manual. It was 12 months later i found out about the speed alarm, and I dont think mine has the auto lights, if it does, well theres a new one.

If the originator of a thread asks to keep on topic can we do this please, it is a simple request.

BTW some AU's have auto lights, I remember the Fairlanes etc had them, can not remember a light sensor but it probably has one, one Au Lane I drove took much longer than 30 seconds to turn off the lights, it had me concerned for a few minutes.

One of the esaiest ways to possibly have such a feature in an older car would be to install a kit similar to the Telstra lights on kit, so they come on with the ignition, I wouldn't think it would be too hard to rig it from there to go off with the ignition too.

Otherwise try Jaycar or alltronics.

im no electronics expert but if you use a light dependant diode somewhere (not sure if you can get one in the right range for sunlight sort of lights) you will be able to hook up some new wires so when you set the switch to say parkers it uses the light dependant diode to see if theres the need for the light and then a timer circuit so that when ignition is killed 30 seconds later it shuts off the lights.

im sure u should be able to find a kit some where

kind of correct.

there is a light sensor in the dash. you set the lights to either off on or auto.

when it gets dark enough it turns on your lights. if you turn off engine get out lock it you get about 30 seconds of lights before they turn off.

that only works when its set to auto (in my ba atleast)

if its set to on it just beeps when you kill the engine but doesnt automatically turn them off again.

Supper cheap sell the kit that turns on your lights when its dark without you having to do it manuly ,sorry i know its not what your asking.
