G'day all, I know this probly doesn't belong in this forum, but it is the closest.

I own a EL Fairmont.

My son owns an EF GLi

My headlight lenses are really good, and stay that way :D

His are crap, no matter what we do

Why?????????

Can EL h/lights be put into a EF?

Wot's the difference??????

but to answer your question his lenses are crap because they are plastic. The UV causes them to yellow out and reduce their clarity and they start to look really s**t. Your options are to either replace them with new ones, use second hand ones which are not as yellow, sand them back (plenty of threads on this) or to do an xr front conversion and put glass ones in.

No EF and EL arent interchangeable, the grill on EL is the factor (GLi/Futura).

i too have an ef gli
in fact only yesterday i got out the ol sand paper and cleaned them up.
i started with 400 wet and dry + a bit of water, got rid of most of the yellow gunk on the surface,
then 800, 1200, 1500, 2000 (all wet and dry + water)
bit of plastic polish and they almost look new!
give yourself and hour to do both and it will be worth the effort, makes the car look a lot better and less daggy.

Thanks people. I had a look today at the two, apart from what ppl said, the globes are different too.

I have tried to use some extra cut polish onthe EF lenses with moderate success. It does clean them up a bit.

I guess he will just have to live with it

sanding them back with wet and dry is a real good idea, ud be amazed at the difference u get and its definately worth the effort, i sure as hell wasnt gonna fork out the cash for new ones just coz of the yellowing
