want hood ornament? some of my friends did a run to bathurst in an XE they fixed up just enough to make it. Glued a empty XXXX can to the bonnet...
The joke ends with the police pulling them over for having open content...

g'day cobbers

love the XXXX can idea I reckon that the should surgicly graft a sense of humer to the fuzz when they graduate gistapo school.

hood ornaments are great until they brake off. first time I washed my new car mine broke off (had been glued in by previous owner.) haven't replaced it yet but am thinking of casting a custom one. probebly easier than filling the hole.

Hood ornaments have their place. i.e. the models they were fitted to. They look natural and there should be no shame in displaying them... as for fitting one as an aftermarket... as per doghead's comments, blatant crotch stuffing.

I know this is an old thread but!

What would u say of putting a hood onrament on a ute??

STORY STARTS HERE:

Driving down a road (as you do btw) stopped at some lights and see this ute turn onto the street.... was surprised to see it had a hood ornament on it....

Now what ute was it other then a 2000 model commadore.....

Shocked i hear you saying...

*BUT WAIT THERES MORE*

It had a statesman grill on it as well.....

Not even remotely shocked matey; there has been a minority for years that own Holden Utes and put statesman front ends on them, some done right look ok, but others looks wrong.. Depends what look you info/after and again, not suprised at all, its far from uncommon on Holden Utes.

See a Ford Ute with LTD or Fairlane front, that would be more suprising, but proberly as its not done due to the bigger job, ie more parts to swap.

hood ornaments look crap except for the AU T series that had the flat style ones, and the BA G220 ones look hot too as well as the NL FBT. I don't like the DF/NF/DL/NL style though that stick up like a trophy though..

I too have always been very picly with them, ones i think that work well are the Ghia one off NL, they are small n dont detract from the rest of the car like the LTD one which is HUGE. Also FBT/T Series/G220 and anything like the Leaper on a Jag or a Merc..

Anything else mostly looks shocking n normally not suiting the car..

The G220/T Series/FBT one is more a badge than a Hood ornament tho.
