Hello everyone

As Melbournians will know, we had a rather large down pour today causing some havoc. One of those being a leak into the cabin of my beloved EL.

The leak was concentrated on the drivers side and has soaked the roof lining above the drivers seat, soaked the drivers sunvisor which in turn dripped and soaked the drivers seat and to add more, the seat was completely wet it dripped onto the floor behind the drivers seat creating a puddle of water on the floor mat.

So from that I have traced it to either a leaking sunroof or leaking windscreen. I'm leaning more towards the sunroof as the windscreen was replaced when I got a roadworthy in December and there was no water running down the A-pillar plastic. Due to the high volume of water coming from the heavens, I believe the sunroof may not have been able to cope with the amount of water and thus leaked out.

If someone can shed some light on how it is installed that would be great! Just want to know what seals there may be that could fail or need replacing due to age. I will be checking the drain hose even though I could see water flow coming out of the end pipe.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you

I checked the drivers side drain tube and it is blocked. Don't have anything long and flexible though...need something like a guitar string so i don't poke holes in it.

Unblocked it not too long ago...suprised its blocked again

Use flexable curtain wire. It is plastic coated and quite flexable. When it is cleared carefully blow some air through it. Don't use high pressure or you may blow the tube off the stub on the sunroof.

Ended up using packaging strap we have here at work. Managed to dislodge something and whatever water that pooled up in there has drained, however I still can't push the packing strap all the way through from top to bottom...gets stuck at the bottom around the bottom of the A-pillar.

Good time to check the other drain tubes!

Thanks for the info SWC.

prestige sunroofs in burwood replaced the outer rubber seal that goes around the roof cavity on my EF a few years ago for $150. not sure if the seal on the glass can be replaced.
