I put LED brake lights in my EF.I had to make a minor modification (blue tac)
to make sure the globes point straight.U will see when u put them in they shoot outwards. The light is doirectionjal so make sure it points straight to the drivers viewpoint behind u.It takes a few goes to line up but ull get it.I think the EBs like reggies the globes point straight anyway.reggie??

they sure do. i remember the brake lights had LEDs in the side of the light too. ill go and take pics now. its not dark yest but u will get the idea.

EDIT here are some piccys. its still light outside though. They are much brighter at night. They are a great accessory for my HID headlights :). and yes there are 3 LEDs out on the parking lights :) doh. ohh and they are just the parkers on. the brake lights are twice as bright :)

the Falcon use bayonet globes right with the two pins? Are the pins level with each other or is one above the other?

by the way, anyone worried about getting side light from there LED indicators, check out the last item on this page - http://www.ledshoponline.com/automotive_leds1156.htm might be too long to fit in falcon indicators but i don't think so.

I had the same leds regie had and to be honest they sucked. I seen great pics of them on other peoples cars but they just wernt any good. They where ok for park lights but the swithc between brake/park was the biggest problem. It was not even noticable really. I got some of the led indicators from supercheap the autotechnica ones .... BAD idea. They had only 3 leds and you couldnt even see them light up the indicator in the dark. I seriously dont know how they can sell them! Iv been very disappointed with LEDS and listen to MAVS19 he is on the ball and definatly knows what he is talking about!

ReGiE,

Couple of questions for you:

Do you have the same amount of light when you look from every angel at the LEDs?

Have you used LEDs for your reverse light as well? If so, what was the result?
Where you satisfied?

I agree with you 150% that ONLY when you look at them straight head on you have a real strong light?

Statistically ONLY during 3-5 % of ones driving time you are straight head on facing the centre of any light bulb or reflector. Which is when parked exactly behind or in front of the other vehicle.
Provided you are of an average hight of 170-175 cm, the car in front is exactly the same make and model.
Both carry exactly the same load and have the same tyre pressure and and etc. etc.

Now, Please do following test
Park your car, say 10-15 metres from a wall with the back facing the wall.
Apply your brakes, then turn on the parking and then indicate.
Then put the original bulbs back in and do the same test again.
Can you frankly tell me that you got more or even the same amount of light and are more visible from the back with LEDs or with the bulbs?

If you want a real challenge, park the car say in an angel of 25-30 degrees to the wall behind you.

You would obtain the best result if you could borrow a “light meterâ€￾ see pic.
Then you can see the result as a fact.

The pictures you have posted show that the LED bulb you are using is a mismatch with what the manufacturers of the tail light assy. designed it for.
It is more or less the same saga as HID kit in a Halogen reflector.
Also the pic from the bulb in Park position shows that only 2,5 of the LEDs are straight and give max light.

I am not saying that LEDs are not good. NO, they are the way of the future. Even future front headlights are going to be made of LEDs.
What I am saying is, once again someone saw a market opportunity to make some money and started manufacturing. Not knowing the first thing about how and why things work. I promise you if you send a letter to the manufacturer and ask him what method of research he has used to place the LEDs in the position they are in or why that specific LED and not a better one or….or…. you would have to probably wait for a reply with the next snow in Broom.

However, LED bulbs look cool.

hey Mavis i agree with you there.
my brake light emit the same light at all angles. not too sure about the indicators though, i will have to look.

they emit prolly the same (if not less) light when u are parked against a wall, but saying that they look cool :)

as for reverse lights they are the only globes in my entire car that arent LED yet :)

BlinkAu: yeah there is not much of a transition from park lights to brake lights. its noticable nut not as much as the fillament bulbs. Thats what the centre brake light is for :)

yeah a dimmer inserted in the parker circuit would be helpful there that way when u brake people can actually tell rather than looking for other taillights to suddenly come on
