I'm havign a bit of trouble with the new light assemblies fouling when I'm trying to mount them. The two bold holes on the outside near the indicator line up perfectly and sit alright. But on the inside, one hole doesn't line up - miles out, and the other doesn't line out but isn't that far out, but the other prblem is the factory wiring running along the bottom stops the bracket from sitting flush against the body metal. See the pictures.

See in the bottom picture, the factory wiring running through the black corrogated plastic tubing fouls on the bottom bracket, but there's also no bolt hole for this bottom bracket, it's further along the inside. Now the bracket above it doesn't line up with the bolt hole either about a centimeter out...

I assume these are lights for your model.

Is it possible to move the wiring loom?

You may need to drill your own holes for the other bolts. Before doing that though you need to be absolutely sure that the lights are in the right position.

The cars an EF but the XR conversion kit from FTG is an EL one, but as far as I know there the same. Just wondering if anyone else who has done this has had any issues like this?

That might however explain why the bolts holes don't line up. Differant radiator support panel?

I'm pretty sure I've read in the past that one of the bolts doesn't line up, which I assume is the lower one. Maybe the top one will line up when the wiring stops fouling, but I don't think so, might take some uhhhh 'fine tuning'.
I think there used to be a doco on this so I might try and have a gander quick.

So I should of just read the doco first, if I had remembered about it (http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=60).

Step 7
Now, the good stuff starts – you get to start fitting your XR gear and start making the car look good! First is to start fitting the headlights Not all bolts for the headlights match up you will only get three of the to line up properly. There is also a wiring harness that runs across the front of the car which makes fitting tricky, lift it up and allow it to run in between the inside upper and lower arms of the light brackets (see pic below). You can fit your new lights with 3 bolts, and it holds on very well, but you may find that the high beam light will vibrate and bounce while driving. At night time that is going to be bad mmmkaay. Some people have drilled a self tapper into the chassis (being careful not to hit anything behind) to hold it in place in all four corners. Or you can make a small bracket up which is very simple, it utilises the existing light hole left over and solves the problem of a bouncing headlight. See pic below for making bracket and fitting to headlights. You need one for each side, do them up nice and tight and it works a treat! It is just a bit of flat 4mm steel with a hole one end and groove cut into the other end to fit around the plastic without damaging it.

the brackets look good, but I'm too lazy, so it'll just sink in a screw or something...
