This weekend i replaced my rocker cover gasket...

while it was off i painted my rocker cover "racing red" and flap disc'd the ridges on the cover down then sanded it with 1200 grit sand paper.

I also went about paint stripping/sanding/polishing/clear coating my 16" ford "sports" rims (well i've done the rears and spare..). They came up really nice, just have to give the clear coat a buff and it'll be sweet. pic to come!

What sort of paint did you use, high temp brake or engine enamel, or just some regular paint?

I used VHT brake caliper/rotor/drum paint in racing red. Hopefully it should hold up okay, but failiing that i might pull it off and polish it/clear coat it if it turns s**t/i can be bothered :-)

hehe yeah for sure. have already had a bad experience with water IN my engine/dizzy so kinda scared ;) ehehe but then again its not uncommon for me to have to drive on gravel roads :\

But yeah the rest of the engine bay lets it down ;)

Wont hold on extractors though.. Actually, it did for about 2 seconds, then the whole lot went very smoky and smelly.

So what does Pacemaker et. all use on extractors?

Did you let the paint dry according to instructions. And I beleive there's special instructions for extractors, like fire up engine, let it idle for x mins, turn it off, repeat, then it's set for good.

I'd say they use the manifold paint, obviously not VHT, but something similar. There was a 40*C difference in the temp rating between manifold and rotor paint, and seeing as I had the rotor paint already, I thought I would give it a try, expecting that if anything, it may deteriorate over time quicker. But it was stuffed within 10 seconds of starting the car which was only idleing, so not even a chance to let it sit for 2 minutes. This was also painted over top of HPC coating, which had deteriorated in a few small spots.
