Hey guys. Been looking around and it seems the best way to remove the pin stripe is a hair dryer to soften the glue and some Eucalypt oil or warm soapy water with some of that stuff i cant seem to find in shops. I think its called elbow grease???

Anyway a question is will this affect the paint work in any way or is there anything i should lookout for?

I think because this question comes up alot i thought of making a Doco on it.

it depends what your paint work is like.

if theres any bit where the paint has been resraped and clear coat hasnt been put on it will make the paint run.

thats what happend to a friends car with that gue remover s**t(but a person used the same bottle on their paint and was all good.).

so be careful.

another thing to consider is going to get your car 1 of those professional buff jobs and ask them to remove the pinstripes at the same time.

cost about 200 or something but then if they f**k it they have to fix it.

just food for thought

I used a hair dryer to heat them up as I peeled them off. Then used abit of Wax and Grease remover (Prepsol) to get rid of any sticky stuff. Then gave the affected area a light buff with some cutting compound. There is a bit of a witness mark where the paint has not faded under the pin strip but nothing major. Took about 20 minutes to remove them all.

Some dodgy panel shops will use the pinstrip to terminate the repair area. using the pinstrip to hide the paint edge. If you remove the pinstrip the paint edge will be very noticable.

Hope yours is not like that!

As said a heatgun and some presol will remove the stripes.

I think a Doco is on its way.
